Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a pie a Scotch pie?
The shape and the grind. A Scotch pie is small, round and straight sided, with the case built high enough to hold a filling of ground meat, traditionally mutton. It was made to be portable, which is why it turns up at football grounds across Scotland.
How is it packaged?
Made in house and packed at the counter. Pack sizes are listed above, and we can pack a different amount if you call the shop.
Is a Scotch pie the same as a mince pie?
Not the sweet kind, no. A savoury mince pie and a Scotch pie are close relatives, both built on ground meat in pastry, but the Scotch pie has its own shape and a raised case. Sweet mince pies are a different thing entirely despite sharing the word.
