Do chicken burgers need a binder to hold together?

Most recipes add egg or breadcrumb because ground chicken is wetter and leaner than beef and will fall apart under rough handling. Ours have no binder in them, just ground chicken, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper, so handle them gently while they are raw.
